Obituary of Hugh Fingerhut
Hugh Robert "Woody" Fingerhut, age 86 of Pennsauken, passed away on November 24, 2015 at Samaritan Hospice in Mount Holly, New Jersey. He was born on June 29, 1929 in Woodlynne, New Jersey.
He was the Loving Husband of Flora Marie (nee Marinella) for 67 years.
He was a graduate of Collingswood High School, class of 1947, and was inducted into their Football Hall of Fame some years later. He retired from NJ Bell Telephone (Verizon) after 34 years of service. He was a parishioner of St. Peter Church since 1952, and had a special devotion to Our Lady and Eucharistic Adoration.
In addition to his wife, Flora, he is survived by his six children: Susan Smith (Robert), Hugh Robert Fingerhut (Joanne), MaryLynn Hopkins, Jackie, Jean DeAngelis, Tim Fingerhut (Chelsea), and the late Judith and Kathleen. Loving grandfather of Michael Simms, Virginia Kaye, Amy Fingerhut, Robert Fingerhut, Steven Hopkins, Mark Hopkins, Gregory Hopkins, Thomas DeAngelis, Alicia LaPointe, Thomas Weldon, Alexis Fingerhut, Sierra Fingerhut, Brooke Fingerhut, and his very special Bernadette who lived with and grew up with "Pop" and "Mom" , great grandfather of 15 and dear brother of Dorothy (Edward) Toal and the late Norma Lampe.
A brief visitation will be held Saturday from 9:30 to 9:50 AM at the Church of St. Peter, 43 West Maple Avenue in Merchantville, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated promptly at 10 AM. Interment will follow at New St. Mary's Cemetery in Bellmawr, NJ.
