Obituary of Joseph McHugh

Deacon Joseph P. McHugh, age 82 of Pennsauken, passed away at his home on December 2, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband of the late Patricia A. (nee Shipe) for 61 years; Devoted father of Kathleen McHugh, Maureen McHugh, Eileen (Bill) Weaver, and Thomas (Melissa); Loving grandfather of 10, great grandfather of 4; Dear brother of Elizabeth Falzone and brother in law of Donna (Howard) Walker. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Prior to his retirement, Mr. McHugh was employed at BASF in Piscataway for many years. He was ordained as a permanent deacon in May of 1979 and served Our Lady of Perpetual Help parish in Maple Shade and for the last 15 years St. Peter Parish in Merchantville. Mr. McHugh was a member of the Knights of Columbus, an avid golfer and member of the Pennsauken Country Club, a very talented woodworker, and a lover of all things Irish, especially Notre Dame football. Relatives and friends are invited to the Visitation on Sunday from 6-8 pm at the Falco/Caruso & Leonard Pennsauken Funeral Home, 6600 North Browning Road and Monday from 10-11 am at the Church of St. Peter, 43 West Maple Avenue in Merchantville where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am. Interment will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Moorestown. The family requests memorial donations be made to St. Vincent DePaul Society c/o St. Peter's Church, 43 West Maple Avenue, Merchantville, NJ 08109.
