Obituary of Betty Vandergrift

Betty Vandergrift (nee Murphy), age 69 years, of Pennsauken, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on October 1, 2018.  Beloved wife of Elmer Vandergrift, Jr.  Devoted mother of Elmer and Thomas (Clayton Fioravanti).  Loving grandmother of Dylon and Brandi.  Dear sister of Shirley Blankenship (Roland) and the late Thomas, William and James. 

Prior to retirement, Betty was employed at ARI in Mt. Laurel for over 20 years.  She was the bartender at Pennsauken 2 Fire Department and a member of their dart league.  Her team was the perennial champions of the league.  Betty was an avid Betty Boop collector and enjoyed her time down in Wildwood at the annual Fireman’s Convention and bike week.  She had a love for hermit crabs and touched many people and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Relatives and friends are invited to the Visitation and Funeral on Thursday from 6-8 PM and Friday from 9:30-10:30 AM at the Falco/Caruso & Leonard Pennsauken Funeral Home, 6600 N. Browning Rd.  A Funeral Service will be celebrated on Friday at 10:30 AM.  Interment will follow at Locustwood Memorial Park in Cherry Hill.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Vandergrift Family Special Needs Trust, 5573 Laurel Ave Pennsauken, NJ 08109.
